Borussia Dortmund are planning to offer Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho a career lifeline in the January transfer window amid his ongoing spat with Erik ten Hag.
Sancho, 23, enjoyed a prolific four-year stint with the Bundesliga giants before moving to Old Trafford in a £73million deal in the summer of 2021, however, he has been unable to emulate his dazzling displays for Dortmund in the Premier League.
Ten Hag left Sancho out of the squad that travelled to Arsenal last weekend due to his performances in training, only for the England star to hit back on social media. His comments have not down well and there is now speculation that the Red Devils could even attempt to move Sancho on in the New Year.
According to The Sun, Dortmund would be interested in re-signing their old talisman on loan if he is frozen out by Ten Hag in the coming months. The report also reveals that Dortmund have already tried to bring Sancho back to Germany, but a loan bid was rebuffed by Manchester United last January.
Whilst Dortmund’s offer was rejected back then, there’s every chance that the Red Devils would consider a fresh approach with Sancho’s future now in doubt.
The statement Sancho issued last week read: “Please don’t believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself in training very well this week. I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into, I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair!
“All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team. I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and am grateful to do so which I know every week is a challenge. I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what!”
Mirror Football understands that Ten Hag has been left shocked by Sancho’s reaction to his comments; an act which has only served to escalate the issue.
However, the Manchester United manager believes that the situation can still be salvaged, despite Sancho’s public rebuttal. The Dutchman was hoping that his comments would serve as a reminder to Sancho after allowing his standards to slip in training.
