The provisional transfer plans at Manchester United for 2024 have been revealed and they include signing a Brighton ace wanted at Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham, per a report.
The English transfer deadline rolled around less than a fortnight ago, though as soon as one window closes, plans for the future begin to take shape.
According to a report from the Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils have provisionally lined up four major additions for the summer window of 2024.
Many Man Utd fans will first wish to know what’s in store for January. On that front, Fabrizio Romano revealed United are unlikely to conduct any major business unless troubled wingers Antony and Jadon Sancho depart.
As such, all eyes will be on how United attack the 2024 summer window and per the MEN, Brighton ace Evan Ferguson is a wanted man.
Erik ten Hag landed a new striker in the form of Rasmus Hojlund last month. Nonetheless, the Dutchman believes a second addition is required, not least because Anthony Martial could be ousted at season’s end.
Martial’s current contract expires next June. United hold an option for an extra 12 months, though the MEN suggest it might be overlooked to finally get Martial off the books.
Competition for Hojlund – or even an upgrade on – would be required and the MEN state Irish sensation Ferguson is being monitored by Man Utd.
The 18-year-old has scored four in four so far this season including a memorable hattrick against Newcastle last time out.
Ferguson is a player being tipped to become one of world football’s leading centre-forwards over the coming years and as such, interest is widespread.
Arsenal, Tottenham, Man City must be overcome
Indeed, Tottenham have drawn frequent links with the player they came close to signing when aged 15.
Clearly, Man Utd will not have a deal all to themselves, though the MEN stress sources believe ‘it is possible Ferguson could be transferred next year.’
The outlet did not state an asking price and how much Brighton will command will largely hinge on how Ferguson performs this season.
Nonetheless, other outlets have speculated as to the potential costs involved, with fees in the region of £100m-£115m cited.
