PEP GUARDIOLA returned from surgery to mastermind a second half comeback that keeps his Manchester City side at the top of the Premier League table with a five-game perfect start to the season.

The Catalan coach had reason to be concerned at half-time after James Ward-Prowse had given unbeaten West Ham a 36th lead with an impressive dicing header.

West Ham were good value for their lead but there was not much in it with home keeper Alphonse Areola performing occasional heroics.

The jubilant West Ham fans were quickly silenced just 44 seconds into the second half when Jeremy Duko equalised with a fine solo effort.

The Belgium summer signing was only starting due to an injury to England star Jack Grealish.

It showed the ever impressive depth in this City squad as they prepare for Tuesday’s trip to Red Star Belgrade as the begin the defence of the Champions League.

Ederson earned his keep in the City goal before Bernardo Silva scored a clever 76th minute second City goal.

Erling Haaland, of course, completed the comeback and the well-deserved victory with a clinical low left foot shot four minutes from time.
