What James Maddison did in Spurs celebration to show Leicester City respect on ‘amazing’ return

In Monday night’s 1-1 draw, James Maddison made his first appearance at the stadium since his £40 million move to Tottenham Hotspur last summer. After five years at Leicester City, where he delivered some standout performances and experienced various highs, his time ended with the club’s relegation to the Championship.

When the teams were announced before the match, Maddison received a mixed reaction of boos and applause. His substitution during the game was met with cheers, which later turned into applause as he acknowledged the crowd by clapping in all four directions of the stadium. After the game, Maddison did a lap around the pitch to show his appreciation for the Leicester fans.

On Tuesday, Maddison posted on social media: “Premier League is back. Not the result we wanted but some positives to take. It’s important we maintain a good mindset with a long season ahead.”
