How 18-year-old Hijab wearing model from Kano emerged winner of 2021 Miss Nigeria

Shatu Garko, 18-year-old Hijab-wearing model, has emerged winner of the 2021 Miss Nigeria beauty pageant.

Garko, a horse-riding lover, who hails from Kano state represented the North West region of Nigeria during the pageant.

Despite being the youngest contestant, Garko beat 17 others to become the first hijab-wearing model to wear the Miss Nigeria crown, she was crowned as the 44th queen of the competition during the coronation ceremony held in Lagos on Friday night.

The new queen Nigeria won N10m, a 1-year residency at a luxury apartment, a brand new car, and other mouth-watering brand ambassadorship opportunities.

According to the organisers, the pageant showcases the positive attributes of Nigerian women every year.
