Buckingham Palace has informed that the list of King Charles Coronation’s music will include 12 newly commissioned pieces, including Greek Orthodox music.

It has been revealed that six orchestral commissions, five choral commissions and one organ commission have been put together for the event that will take place on May 6.

“A range of musical styles and performers blend tradition, heritage and ceremony with new musical voices of today, reflecting The King’s life-long love and support of music and the arts,” the palace said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Charles has also requested Greek Orthodox music in his bid to pay tribute to his father, Prince Philip, who was born in Greece and died a couple of years ago.

Adele and Ed Sheeran reject Royal Family invitation

Both Adele and Ed Sheeran were invited to perform at King Charles’ Coronation concert, but neither of the two artists accepted the Royal Family‘s invitation due to schedule conflicts.

“He was very keen that they were part of the concert.”
