Peter ‘Mr P’ Okoye, the Nigerian singer, has broken his silence on the recent split of Psquare, the music group he shared with his twin brother Paul ‘Rudeboy‘ Okoye.
The Okoye brothers first parted ways in 2017 after a disagreement on the role of Jude Okoye, their older brother, as manager.
In November 2021, they ended their five-year feud and held their first headline concert in December.
Paul, however recently confirmed that Psquare no longer exists. He claimed his twin brother was behind his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Rudeboy said he parted ways with Peter after Mr P expressed his disinterest in the group. He also made a series of allegations about his twin brother.
But in a lengthy post via social media on Monday, Peter questioned why his brother was trying to “discredit all my efforts” towards Psquare.
He also accused Paul of taking sides with Jude who he claimed had been trying to “oppress me”.
The 42-year-old maintained that he is not “in any competition” with his brother, adding that fans have been “fed the wrong narrative for a long time”.
Peter also refuted claims that he (Paul) wrote 99% of Psquare’s songs while accusing him of “turning the most awarded and decorated music group in Africa into a laughing stock again”.
“My dear brother Paul, just like I have told you several times, I am not in any competition with you or anybody else. However, seeing you grant countless interviews where you constantly discredit my efforts in the group that we both created and built together really speaks volumes,” he wrote.
“In your recent interviews, you claimed that you wrote and sang 99% of all P-Square songs and discredited me by saying that our song with TI ‘Ejeajo’ which I wrote, was a failure. You went as far as using the YouTube views to discredit me once again.
