19-year-old beauty queen from Panama, Italy Mora, has been expelled from the upcoming Miss Universe competition. Days before the highly anticipated beauty pageant was supposed to kick start, Italy Mora’s participation was abruptly cut short following allegations of an unauthorized visit to her boyfriend’s hotel room.
Mora was set to represent her country in the global pageant, which will take place in Mexico City on November 16, with 130 contestants from around the world. However, controversy began when rumours surfaced that Mora had spent time in the hotel room of her boyfriend, Juan Abadía, without prior approval from pageant organizers.
A social media announcement from the organization stated, “The Miss Panama Organization deeply regrets the disqualification of our contestant in the 73rd Miss Universe. This decision was made by the Miss Universe Organization after a thorough evaluation, which verified through security systems and the work team that our candidate was in a room other than the one assigned to her, accompanied by a person outside the pageant production, with no official makeup artists present.”
While reports point to this incident as the main reason for her removal, Mora herself has offered a different explanation for her exit.
