Beyonce made history at the 67th Grammy Awards, securing her first-ever win for Album of the Year with Cowboy Carter. The award was presented by the Los Angeles Fire Department, marking a unique and heartfelt moment in the evening’s ceremony.
This win is also historic in the sense that Beyonce is now the first black woman to win Album of the Year in the 21st century.
In her acceptance speech, the 32-time Grammy winner expressed deep gratitude, paying tribute to the firefighters and reflecting on her journey. She was accompanied by daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.
She said, “I’d like to thank, acknowledge, and praise all the firefighters for keeping us safe. I just feel very full and very honoured. It’s been many, many years. I just want to thank the Grammys. Every songwriter, every collaborator, every producer— all of the hard work. I want to dedicate this to Ms Martell. I hope we just keep pushing forward, opening doors. God bless y’all. Thank you so much.”
