Stark weather warning issued as UK faces 'extremely high temperatures'

DAILY POST

A stark warning has been issued to people in Wales and the rest of the UK as parts of Europe and Northern Africa deal with sweltering temperatures. The “Cerberus” heatwave, named by the Italian Meteorological Society after the three-headed monster from Dante’s Inferno, has taken hold across holiday hotspots in the Mediterranean, with recorded temperatures as high as 48C.

While the intense heatwave is not expected to reach the UK, researchers are warning future hot weather spikes could cause our buildings to “act like greenhouses” and that the country faces extreme temperatures if global warming reaches 2C. That said, measures such as air conditioning could lead to a “vicious cycle” of high energy consumption to make people feel cooler inside while making the world outside hotter, the Echo reports.
