Edo PDP expels Shaibu, Orbih for anti-party activities

The Edo State Working Committee of the People Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled former deputy governor Philip Shaibu, South-South Vice Chairman Dan Orbih, and former House of Representatives member Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama for alleged anti-party activities.

According to PDP Chairman Tony Aziegbemi, the trio was expelled for working against the party’s interests, with Shaibu donating vehicles to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Orbih accepting an appointment without consulting the party.

The expulsions come ahead of the September 21 governorship election in Edo State, which the PDP is confident it will win despite the losses.

The decision to expel Ogbeide-Ihama has been disputed by the PDP leadership in Oredo Local Government Area, who have declared the suspension null and void and urged the group behind the expulsion to avoid causing confusion in the local government.
