Aisha Yesufu denies Labour Party membership

NAIJA NEWS

Nigerian activist cum politician, Aisha Yesufu, has said she is not a card-carrying member of the Labour Party, LP, or any other political party.

Naija News recalls that Aisha was a member of the 2023 LP presidential campaign council.

However, in an interview with Nigerian journalist, Seun Okinbaloye, on the ‘Mic On’ podcast, Aisha dismissed the insinuation of being a LP or any other party member.

The co-convener of the ‘BringBackOurGirls’ also stated that she had never sought an appointment from any politician because she works for her financial independence.

She said, “For me, I worked on my financial independence before I started speaking on the Nigerian issues.

“I am not a member of the Labour Party. I have never been a card carrying member of any party.

“I dare anybody; living or dead to say that I, Aisha Yesufu, have ever been to your place to look for appointment, contract or whatever. I am a trader! I buy, I sell, I distribute, build and sell houses.”

In a scathing critique of President Bola Tinubu, activist and politician Aisha Yesufu has labelled the president a “bad person” amid the ongoing economic challenges facing Nigeria.

Yesufu’s comments come in response to recent remarks made by Senator Ali Ndume, who attributed the nation’s economic woes to the president’s close associates.

Senator Ndume, representing Borno South, had expressed his concerns that certain individuals surrounding Tinubu are responsible for implementing “harmful policies” that have exacerbated the economic situation rather than addressing pressing issues like inflation and stabilizing the exchange rate.
