FG denies reports of UAE visa resumption for Nigerian citizens

The Nigerian Government refuted claims on Tuesday regarding the resumption of visa services for Nigerian citizens by the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Earlier reports suggested that Emirati authorities had lifted the visa restrictions on Nigerian travelers, allegedly lifting the ban on March 4, 2024.

Contrary to these reports, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu clarified on his official page that the document circulating did not originate from either the Nigerian government or the UAE. He emphatically stated, “UAE has not resumed visa issuance to Nigerians.”

The announcement, purportedly signaling a milestone in bilateral discussions between the two nations, was dismissed as unauthorized and misleading. The statement emphasized that the Nigerian government had not sanctioned any official communication regarding the resumption of visa issuance for Nigerian citizens by the UAE.

The clarification underscores the importance of accurate information dissemination and caution against relying on unverified sources. As the issue continues to unfold, Nigerian citizens are advised to await official announcements from authorized government channels regarding visa services to the UAE.
