“When Biafra comes, I will take an axe and destroy my father’s throne,” says Nnamdi Kanu.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has said that he does not want anybody bowing down to him. He made this known during an interview with IrokopostTV’s Rudolf Okonkwo. The director of Radio Biafra said that he does not believe in chieftaincy title and in royalty. “When Biafra comes, I will take an axe and destroy my father’s throne,” he said, “and have my mother cook a pot of ukazi soup with it.” In this first of four-part interview, Mazi Kanu vows that he is going to lead a march on Washington with 2 million Biafrans and their supporters. He said that the march would take place on July 3, 2020. In the rest of the one-and-half hour interview, the Biafran leader discussed contentious issues ranging from his arrest, his release on bail and the military attack on his house. He also called on Biafrans in America to donate $1 a month to hasten the reestablishment of Biafra. Other issues that he addressed were the beef between him and Asari Dokubo and his perception of Tony Nnadi, the secretary general of the Lower Niger Congress. Mazi Kanu insisted that the man in Aso Rock is not President Muhammadu Buhari but a Sudanese imposter called Jubril. He claimed that Yoruba pastors’ failure to preach about justice and self-determination was responsible for the inability of Nigerians to fight to free themselves from oppression. Nnamdi Kanu warned people from Biafra land in America who are not contributing to the Biafran struggle that they would not be allowed into Biafra when it is achieved.
