Prince Philip moves from cardiac centre to hospital after heart surgery

Prince Philip has left Britain’s top heart hospital in an ambulance and is back on a private ward today where he will spend the weekend recovering after a ‘successful’ cardiac procedure.

The Duke of Edinburgh, 99, is spending his 18th day away from the Queen as the furore surrounding their grandson Harry and his wife Meghan’s interview with Oprah rumbles on.

Royal expert Phil Dampier, author of Prince Philip: A Lifetime of Wit and Wisdom, said of today’s update from Buckingham Palace: ‘Hopefully good news – he’s taking it slowly.’

Philip has already undergone a ‘successful procedure for a pre-existing heart condition’ and is expected to remain in hospital for ‘treatment, rest and recuperation for a number of days.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been urged to postpone their tell-all with Oprah Winfrey on Sunday night as Philip’s approaches three weeks in hospital.
