It seems that the meeting between Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue and President Muhammadu Buhari at Aso Rock Villa on Tuesday, March 23, is about to yield immediate results.
This is as President Buhari, after his closed-door talk with the Benue governor, convened a meeting with the chief of defence staff, Major-General Lucky E.O Irabor and the minister of defence, Bashir Salihi Magashi.
There are reasons to believe that top on the meeting’s agenda is a review of the suggestions made to the president by Ortom.
Earlier, Buhari held a meeting with Ortom of Benue state. The meeting between the president and the governor occurred on Tuesday, March 23, at the presidential villa.
Speaking with reporters after the meeting, the governor said he visited the president to commend him for speaking against the attack on his (Ortom’s) farm in Benue state.
Ortom disclosed that he also made suggestions to the president on the security situation in Benue state. The governor told reporters that he does not wish for anyone to experience what he went through during the attack on him.
The security adviser to the Benue state governor, Paul Hemba, confirmed the arrest of the suspects on Tuesday.
Hemba stated the police team found the fishermen close to the scene of the attack and are being investigated.
Ortom has expressed appreciation to the security men attached to him. He said if a governor could not go to the farm with the entire security around him, then what will farmers be facing.
