Explosions heard in Israel as Hamas claims to have fired rockets

Hamas has fired rockets from the Gaza Strip at Israel as witnesses reported hearing explosions and warning sirens sounded across the south of the Jewish state.

Israeli security forces said anti-tank missiles were fired into the country. Images showed at least three missile exhaust trails in the skies over Gaza City.

The Israeli Army said there was an initial burst of seven rockets, one was intercepted, and rocket fire is continuing. A civilian vehicle was hit in the south of the country, the military added, saying one person was hurt.
