The Anambra secretariat of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has begun planting trees at the permanent orientation camp in Umuawulu/Mbaukwu area to prevent soil erosion.
Kehinde Aremu, the state coordinator, said erosion was beginning to threaten major structures within the campground.
Speaking on Monday, he said about 100 trees, including palm, teak, gmelina, almond, sweet orange will be planted in the first phase of the exercise.
Aremu said Shuaibu Ibrahim, director-general of NYSC, had directed that the trees should be promptly planted to save the environment.
