Chief Medical Officer Professor Paul Kelly says the AstraZeneca vaccine remains an “extremely important” component of the vaccine rollout after it was revealed a 52-year-old woman’s death was “related” to the jab.
Professor Kelly said the woman was administered the vaccine a couple of weeks ago and developed an “extremely rare” blood clotting event.
“It (AstraZeneca vaccine) remains an incredibly, extremely important part of our vaccine rollout with our large numbers of doses that are available here in Australia,” he said.
