Victoria COVID-19 Commander Jeroen Weimar says health authorities believe Victoria’s new locally acquired case is connected to the state’s wider Kappa outbreak.
There are currently 74 active cases of COVID-19 in Victoria and three people in hospital with the state recording one new locally acquired case in the past 24 hours.
Mr Weimar says the state’s ongoing restrictions are necessary as officials are still concerned about the possibility of undetected cases linked to the outbreak.
