NFL's Damar Hamlin had to be 'resuscitated again' as heart stopped a second time

Damar Hamlin’s uncle, Dorrian Glenn, revealed the Buffalo Bills safety needed to be resuscitated for a second time.

The 24-year-old collapsed on the field of play during the New York side’s clash against the Cincinnati Bengals. Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest on the NFL field of play after being tackled by Bengals’ star Tee Higgins, who accidentally hit Hamlin in the chest with his helmet during the tackle.

He needed to have 30 minutes of medical attention on the pitch which also included chest compressions and CPR. However, if the situation was not already drastic enough, Hamlin needed to be resuscitated for a second time when he got to the hospital, according to his Uncle.

“His heart went out, they had to resuscitate it twice,” Glenn said to CNN. “They had to resuscitate him on the field and they had to resuscitate him again when he got to the hospital.

“I have to show my gratitude for the medical staff that were on hand because if it were not for them, my nephew probably wouldn’t have even been here.” Glenn also added that Hamlin has been sedated by the hospital as a means to prevent any “further complications” arising from the incident.
