Chris Wood has left former club Newcastle stunned with a brilliant hat-trick for Nottingham Forest.
The New Zealander started in Nuno Espirito Santo‘s second game in charge at the City Ground and rewarded the Portuguese with a superb treble.
Aleksandar Isak had given the Magpies the lead as they look to get back on track after a tough run.
However, their former striker showed them what they’re missing with three goals inside an hour to make the scoreline 3-1 at the City Ground.
And as the third went in, former Premier League star Micky Gray exclaimed: “Oh, wow. Absolutely incredible.
“It’s the old man Chris Wood. It’s a fantastic run but where is the pressure from the centre-halves of Newcastle. Who is going to pick up the run?
“It’s a 30/40 yard pass into Chris Wood, it’s a brilliant first touch and talk about not panicking when you get just outside the penalty area, he takes it in towrads Dubravka, sells him a dummy. And with his left foot, he’s not going to miss from there.
“What a hat-trick!”
Wood spent one year with Newcastle from January 2022, scoring just four Premier League goals in 35 appearances.
