A new law requires all cars in the EU to be fitted with speed-limiting AI tech, which can slow down vehicles if they exceed the speed limit.
The Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) system uses AI, GPS data, and onboard cameras to assess speed in real-time and intervene if necessary.
Drivers in Great Britain can turn off or override the system, but manufacturers may still install ISAs to avoid designing separate models for different markets.
The law is part of a broader effort to improve road safety, and the UK has also seen the rollout of new AI speed cameras that can detect driving offenses such as not wearing a seatbelt or using a phone while driving.
