The father of AI is being brought back from the dead – by AI.
Technology icon Alan Turing will be resurrected as a life-size avatar at his World War Two codebreaking base of Bletchley Park, Buckinghamshire, where he slaved to solve the Nazi’s top-secret messages.
Turing’s recordings and records are about to be pumped into the virtual version of the mathematician so it will speak exactly like the tech genius.
Rebecca Foy, Bletchley Park’s director of public engagement, said: “Even without his wartime work, he would rightly be famous for his pioneering computing work.”
Visitors will be able to pose questions to the AI Alan – and the digital avatar will respond as if it is having a real-time conversation.
It is being created by the firm 1956 Individuals, and it’s hoped it will be ready by early next year.
