Pandemonium broke out in some parts of Kano State on Saturday following a clash between hoodlums and some security operatives.
DAILY POST learnt that trouble began when some residents defied the curfew earlier imposed on the state by the government and hit the streets to continue the #EndBadGovernance protests.
The incident occurred primarily in Rijiyar Lemo, Kurna to Bachirawa areas in Fagge Local Government, Kofar Nassarawa in Kano Municipality, and Unguwa Uku area of Tarauni Local Government Area of the state.
Some eyewitnesses claimed that about eight persons were killed during the clash, while several others were seriously injured.
DAILY POST learnt that some criminal elements hiding behind the hunger protest attempted to loot shops, including a Rufaida yoghurt outlet, leading to the use of force by security operatives.
When contacted by DAILY POST, the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Abdulahi, said he was yet to be briefed on the matter.
