Kanyinsola Ajayi and Tejiri Ashe were unable to secure a spot in the highly anticipated men’s 100 metres final at the Paris Olympic Games on Sunday evening. Despite their best efforts, both sprinters failed to finish within the top two positions in their respective semi-final races, nor were they among the next two fastest runners to qualify for the final.
Ashe, competing in lane 1 of semi-final 1, finished sixth with a time of 10.08 seconds, placing him overall in 19th position. Ajayi, running from lane 6 in semi-final 2, also finished sixth, clocking in at 10.13 seconds and ending up 20th overall.
The men’s 100m final took place later that evening, with American sprinter Noah Lyles ultimately claiming the gold medal in a thrilling photo finish against Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson.
