North Korea has suffered various floods due to bad weather, but Kim Jong-un is said to be blaming locals over rainfall.
Large areas of the country are underwater, with sources claiming it’s the country’s worst disaster in years. The number of deaths are unconfirmed, but it is thoughts it numbers in the thousands.
Overhead footage shows people fleeing on boats while the roofs of houses can be seen just poking through the high flood water. The high rains are thought to have unexpectedly fallen this week.
Coupled with “lack of human planning and preparation,” several innocents were thought to have perished, according to CNN. Due to this, plenty of blame has been placed on the local areas and their officials.
Kim Jong-un is said to be furious with the country’s lack of preparation and survival, and it looking to take his anger out somewhere – or on someone. The dictator cannot be criticised by anyone in North Korea so is famous for shifting the blame elsewhere.
Because of this, he is looking elsewhere to spread the blame. He has been said to be ripping local officials from their posts and punishing them for the extreme weather. Some are believed to have suffered very severe punishment, or even death, according to CNN.
The official North Korean Spy Agency has said they are “closely monitoring,” the country and believe there may have been “multiple officials executed.” An unnamed source has said there could be around 20 to 30 leaders who were executed due to the rain.
