Ahead of his assumption of office as America’s 47th president in January, President-elect Donald Trump has named Susie Wiles his chief of staff.

“Susie is tough, smart, innovative and is universally admired and respected,” Mr Trump said in a statement on Thursday. “I have no doubt that she will make our country proud.”

Mr Trump said he appointed Ms Wiles as part of preparation ahead of the transition process as he makes other important appointments of those to run his government.

This comes two days after Mr Trump won a landslide victory, defeating Vice President Kamala Harris.
