Gunmen have kidnapped Justice Azuka, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, along Ugwunapampa Road in Onitsha North Local Government Area. The incident occurred on Tuesday night as the lawmaker, who represents Onitsha North Constituency I, was returning home for the Christmas holiday.

According to sources, Azuka was ambushed by the assailants around 9:20 p.m. while making his way back to his residence. The abduction has raised concerns, particularly as it happened during a time when many are traveling for the festive season.

Anambra State Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the abduction in a statement issued to Premium Times on Wednesday. Superintendent Ikenga noted that the police have since initiated an operation to locate and rescue the kidnapped lawmaker and arrest the perpetrators.

“The police have activated operational plans for the possible rescue and arrest of the kidnappers,” Ikenga said, emphasizing that efforts are underway to resolve the situation swiftly.
