“Fubara remains governor” – Presidency insists, criticizes Peter Obi as ‘dangerous’

The Presidency has dismissed claims that President Bola Tinubu removed Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, clarifying that he was only suspended to address the political crisis in the state. Tinubu’s aide, Olusegun Dada, criticized Peter Obi for calling the intervention a collapse of democracy, accusing him of hypocrisy. He argued that democracy in Rivers had already crumbled when Fubara formed an illegal four-man assembly and demolished the state parliament building.

Dada also attacked Obi for praising former President Olusegun Obasanjo as a democratic leader, calling it misleading. He reminded Obi that his own impeachment attempt happened under Obasanjo’s administration and accused him of running Anambra State undemocratically by appointing sole administrators instead of elected local government officials for nearly eight years.
