Where Lagos speed cameras are installed
The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, in partnership with Huawei Technologies, has installed new Intelligent Transport System sites equipped with speed cameras, traffic lights, and e-police stations to monitor violations and improve traffic flow.
According to Transportation Commissioner Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the system—which integrates with existing Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras—will automatically detect infractions, with offenders receiving SMS notifications from the Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) detailing fines: N20,000 for running red lights and N50,000 for speeding. The initiative aims to enforce compliance through real-time surveillance and automated penalties.
