Enyimba begin CAF Confederation Cup Group campaign on a winning note

Enyimba football club began their CAF Confederation Cup Group campaign on a winning note by defeating their Libyan visitors Ahli Benghazi 2-1 in Aba on Wednesday.

The two-time CAF Champions League winners took the lead ten minutes into the game when Captain Austine Oladapo scored with a long range effort.

But moments later, Abdallah Imhamed equalized for Benghazi from the penalty spot after he was fouled by Enyimba midfielder – Omaka Chukwudi inside the box.

Victor Mbaoma restored Enyimba’s lead just before the stroke of halftime as the eight-time Nigerian league champions held on to secure their first win in the group phase of the Confederation cup.

Fatai Osho is the manager of Enyimba Football club. He was delighted his side won, but regrets the missed goal-scoring chances.
