A Monday morning fire outbreak has destroyed goods and properties worth millions of naira at the famous Katsina Central Market.
An eyewitness and one of the shop owners, Abass Labaran told Channels Television that shops numbering over 100 were burnt.
Labaran said items destroyed in his shop include provisions, foodstuffs in large quantities, and books.

According to the trader, the fire started from the Unity Bank located in heart of the market at about 7:30 a.m., and it further spread to other stalls.
“The inferno was not caused by anything but an act of Almighty Allah, it all starts from one shop and spread across to about a thousand shops. My shop boy was the first to inform me of the incident,” Labaran added.
Another trader in the market who simply identified himself as Saheed attributed the fire to the explosion from gas cylinders sold in one of the shops.
The trader said further that a loud noise like that of an explosion was heard when the fire started.
Meanwhile, Governor Aminu Masari has joined teaming sympathisers to visit the market. He told journalists that he awaits firsthand information from the authorities regarding the root cause of the incident.
As at the time of filing this report, combined men the Federal and State Fire Services were seen making effort to bring the inferno to a halt while many traders and onlookers are busy trying to save whatever is left behind in their stalls.
Meanwhile, eyewitnesses have gone to social media to share photos and videos from the fire outbreak. Others asked for prayers as the fire rages despite efforts by firefighters.
