Simon Ekpa declares self as Biafra's prime minister in exile, appoints minister

Simon Ekpa, who claims to be a disciple of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has written a letter to the United Nations General Assembly dated April 13, 2023, which he personally signed.

In the letter, Ekpa urged the global community to recognize the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE), which he stated was established to govern the “Biafra nation” politically and administratively from outside of Biafra territory.

Ekpa, who refers to himself as the Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile, appealed to the UN to intervene with the government of Nigeria for the unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu and all Biafrans held captive in Nigeria. He also called for a peaceful referendum to be conducted to enable the peaceful and bloodless exit of Biafra from Nigeria.
