A former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, has reacted to the alleged ongoing merger arrangement between Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Naija News understands that a report emerged last weekend, which claimed that Obi, Atiku, and Kwankwaso are working on an alliance and setting up a formidable platform that can unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
However, amid the planned alliance talks, Kwankwaso visited President Bola Tinubu on Thursday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Reacting to the development in a Twitter post on Friday, Ahmad said it is more strategically and politically advantageous for Kwankwaso to align with President Tinubu, who could provide him with a smoother trajectory for his future political aspirations.
Ahmad said the NNPP presidential candidate would be making a big mistake if he revisited a previously unsuccessful alliance with Atiku and Obi.
The former presidential aide stated that Kwankwaso has a long journey ahead in politics, adding that he should join the winning team.
He wrote: “It is more strategically and politically advantageous for Kwankwaso to align with President Tinubu/APC, which could provide a smoother trajectory for his future political aspirations, than revisiting a previously unsuccessful alliance with Atiku and Peter. Kwankwaso has a long journey ahead. Join the winning team, Sir.“
