The Presidency has revealed that President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to launch the Student Loan Scheme on Thursday, a significant step towards easing financial burdens for Nigerian students.
Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, shared the announcement on Sunday during an appearance on TVC’s programme ‘Counting the Cost of Presidents Tinubu’s Reforms.’
Ngelale stated, “Later this week, on Thursday, the President will launch the historic National Student Loan Programme. This is a major form of obligation reduction for Nigerians and families and young people at a time when Nigerians are feeling the pinch. We believe this is the way to go.”
The Access to Higher Education Act, 2023, signed by Tinubu on June 12, 2023, paved the way for this initiative, aimed at providing interest-free loans to students for educational purposes.
