Kaduna residents protest insecurity, demand Govt action against terrorists in Kauru communities

SAHARA REPORTERS

Residents of Kauru Local Government Area in Kaduna State have taken to the streets to protest the persistent attacks by terrorists, bandits and kidnappers.

For years, the communities have lived in fear as their homes were raided, lives lost, and properties destroyed.

The most affected areas include Dokan Karji, Bandi, Kan-Makama, Wugama, Kurfi, Unguwan Mai Doki, Dokan Sonoma, Bibi, Kaware, Unguwan Sako, Hayin Mai Jama’a, Sabon Layin Kan-Makama, and other villages in Dawaki District.

The frequent attacks have left residents unable to sleep at night, constantly fearing for their safety.

A conflict and crisis journalist in Northwest Nigeria, Bakatsine, who posted videos of the protest on X, stated that during the peaceful protest, the residents urged Governor Uba Sani to intervene and ensure their safety.

One protester stated, “We can’t continue like this. Every day we live in fear. We are calling on the government to save us.”

The protesters emphasised that all they want is peace, adding that they deserve to live without fear and protect their families and properties.

This alarming situation in Kauru highlights the pressing need for government and security agencies to collaborate with communities to address insecurity across Nigeria.

Attempts by SaharaReporters to reach Mansir Hassan, the Kaduna State police spokesperson, through calls and texts for comment were unsuccessful.
