Dead whale eater risks mercury poisoning – Bayelsa govt

Bayelsa State government warns residents against consuming dead whales, citing risk of mercury poisoning, botulism, and bacterial infections.

The warning comes after residents of Okpoama butchered a dead whale for food, the second such incident in recent times.

Permanent Secretary of Health, Toyin Azebi, issued the warning after a meeting on the ongoing cholera outbreak in the country.

The government urges caution to protect public health, as consumption of dead whales can lead to dangerous health complications.
