THE MESSENGER
A Florida man’s theft of a surveillance camera backfired when the camera did the very thing it was meant to do: surveil.
A construction company bought the camera – valued at $355 – to keep watch of the property they were working on, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
While reviewing the footage, the company caught a clear image of a man as he was stealing the camera.
“They discovered that this thief had stolen the camera and filmed himself taking it!” the sheriff’s office wrote.
Now, the man’s photo has been released and law enforcement is asking the public to help identify the robbery suspect, and offering a cash reward for successful tips.
“It’s very unfortunate that he stole the camera, but it certainly did its job,” the sheriff’s office wrote.
