University of Georgia Police are questioning a person of interest in connection with the on-campus death of 22-year-old Laken Hope Riley.

The investigation remains active, according to UGA spokesperson Greg Trevor. Riley, a junior nursing student at Augusta University College of Nursing in Athens, was found dead after jogging on UGA’s campus.

Her body was discovered near a lake on Thursday afternoon, with her identity publicly confirmed the following morning. Authorities are yet to determine the cause and manner of her death, pending further examination by the coroner. Classes have been canceled as investigators search for clues with a possible suspect still at large.

Police suspect foul play in Riley’s death but have not released any information on suspects or motives.

The police chief emphasized that while there’s no immediate danger to the public, the presence of a suspect on the loose poses a risk.

Riley had ties to both universities, having been a UGA undergraduate student before joining Augusta University’s nursing program.
