A respected Baptist preacher was shot dead in what his wife claimed was a botched robbery. But the truth behind Pastor David Evans’s death was a bizarre tale of secrets, lies and three-way sex.
Pastor Evans was an upstanding pillar of the community in Ada, Oklahoma, but – Lamont Dorsey explains in a new podcast – he was leading a secret double life. He explained: “Pastor Evans posted numerous ads on Craigslist looking for men to have a three-way with him and his wife.
“One of the men that answered the call to fornicate with his wife was one 26-year-old Kahlil Deamie Square.” Square reportedly had sex with the Pastor and his wife Kristie Dawnell Evans on several occasions.
But Kristie had become infatuated with Square “and they got a little too close for comfort”. She contacted the 26-year-old privately and told him her husband would be out of town doing missionary work and invited him over.
At some point Kristie, 47, hatched a plan to kill her husband and use the proceeds of his $250,000 insurance policy to finance a new life with her younger lover.
Court documents from her 2021 trial say that “Kristie gave David’s gun and a box of bullets to Kahlil, Kristie and Kahlil agreed upon an approximate time Kahlil would come to the Evans’s residence to kill David. Kristie left the backdoor unlocked so Kahlil could make entry to the residence.
