‘I decided to marry 60 people at once – they’re all the loves of my life’

An Australian photographer has revealed how she tied the knot to a whopping sixty mates in a three-day extravaganza.

The ceremony that was held just outside Brisbane proved that love isn’t just for lovers.

Carly Sare, from South Australia, said ‘I do’ to her closest pals, sharing everything from vows to first dances in what was a massive celebration of friendship rather than romance.

Opening up about her decision to marry her friends, she shared: “As a wedding photographer, I spend my life at weddings, and I’ve noticed that in a culture that is rather barren for rituals, weddings are a place where they abound.

“We know how to show up for weddings. We travel, take time off work and dress up. When you gather a bunch of people, and look at something with a shared intention, something powerful happens. Some kind of alchemy (beyond the legal binding bit) occurs, that galvanises things and changes their colour in the most beautiful way.”
