Russia urges employees to ‘take intimate breaks’ at work to boost declining birthrate

Russia is facing a declining birthrate, with its lowest birth rate since 1999. President Vladimir Putin has launched a “sex-at-work” initiative to boost the nation’s population, which currently stands at 1.5 children per woman.

The ongoing war in Ukraine has exacerbated the issue, with over one million younger Russians fleeing the country. The country’s health minister, Dr. Yevgeny Shestopalov, emphasized that being busy at work is not an excuse for not pumping out children. Other countries, including Thailand, Japan, and South Korea, have also implemented measures to encourage their negative birthrates.
