A farmer is accused of raping a teenager before knocking her out – and leaving her to be ripped apart by hungry pigs.
Milena Shevelyova, 17, had been left home alone in the Krasnoyarsk region of Russia by her parents and was feeding the animals when she was attacked by Igor Zaika. The 41-year-old farmworker knocked her out and is then believed to have raped her, before leaving her to the animals.
Her body was found by her boyfriend, Vladimir Bedny, 18, who had been asked to check on her by her parents when she did not answer her phone. He called an ambulance but Milena had died from blood loss.
Media outlet NGS24 reported: “Switching on his torch, he saw the horrifying scene on the floor,” reported, citing local people. The boyfriend ran out, vomiting and shouting for help.”
Zaika was arrested by the Russian Investigative Committee and confessed to attacking her because of a “grudge”. He was also accused of a sex attack when she was unconscious after he punched her and hit her with a stick. Reports say police initially quizzed the boyfriend as a suspect, before switching their attention to Zaika.
Local media reported: “As someone who had lived in the village all his life and worked with livestock, he perfectly understood the animals could ‘finish off’ the girl lying on the floor.
“In fact, he was counting on this: the pigs would mutilate the body, and everything would look like an accident. Modern forensics left him no chance—the investigators caught the scoundrel.”
In a recorded interrogation, the suspect told investigators: “I came in, and there’s his daughter, the manager’s daughter….we got into a fight.” He did not confess on camera to the sex attack but investigators are understood to have found forensic evidence.
He told how he “went at her with a stick” and “threw a few punches….to her head.”
