A TEACHER sacked after telling her pupils that being LGBTQ+ was a sin has lost her court fight against education chiefs.
Glawdys Leger, 45, said in an RE class being gay was “not fine” and that “you should put God before LGBTQ+ ideology”.
A complaint led to her suspension and dismissal at Bishop Justus CofE School in Bromley, South East London, in 2022.
The following year, a professional conduct panel ruled that Christian Ms Leger’s actions amounted to unprofessional conduct — with the findings then published online.
The teacher took the Department for Education to court, arguing that publishing the results was an infringement of her right to privacy.
She has asked the court to quash the panel’s finding or to order for it to be reconsidered.
Michael Phillips, for Ms Leger, said in written submissions that her comments were taken out of context and recorded by an 11-year-old who “did not endeavour to produce anything like a full note”.
But the High Court yesterday ruled it was a lawful “justified and proportionate sanction”.
Dismissing the judicial review in a judgement published today, Mrs Justice Lang said: “In my judgment, the PCP and the Secretary of State made a lawful decision that publication of the findings was a justifiable and proportionate sanction for her unacceptable professional conduct.
