The President of the Institute of Directors of Nigeria, Dr Ije Jidenma, has called on leaders of the private sector to win the trust of political leaders and the public sector to avoid forceful policy imposition.
Jidenma made the call at the 17th investiture ceremony held in Lagos on Sunday.
She said her two-year tenure would prioritise inclusiveness and digital transformation to help in replicating the Dangote business model among young growing private companies.
Jidenma said, “The institute has continued with relevance in the advocacy of good corporate governance.
“We will build on the gains recorded so far as the COVID-19 pandemic and technology have effectively changed the world as we know it.
“Even with this baton change, IoD needs to be future-ready. The institute has consolidated a future-forward five-year plan, IoD 2021-2025.
“The institute is also working to ensure the Bill of Chartering is passed. The bill which is seeking to give legal backing to the establishment of the Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria is awaiting concurrent reading at the Senate. The charter will help with capacity building of members.”
