The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has confirmed the arrest of suspected kidnappers who attempted to abduct a clergyman, Ayuba Samuel, at Nuku community in Abaji area council in the nation’s capital.
This was disclosed by the FCT Police Commissioner, CP Sunday Babaji, during a press briefing at the command’s headquarters on Saturday.
He said a notorious kidnapping gang leader identified as Malam Bala and one Abdullahi Aruwa known as Juli were arrested during a covert operation at Atako forest, a neighbouring village in Kuje.
He said, ”The suspects were arrested while perfecting plans toward executing the criminal act on how to abduct the clergyman at Nuku community in Abaji area council of Abuja,” he said
The FCT police boss also revealed that the suspects confessed to having launched several other attacks in the nation’s capital before their arrest.
He said two mobile phones with special lines which the suspects use to contact other gangs were recovered from them.
