The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives Candidate for Ideato North/ South federal constituency, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere has condemned the decision of the federal government to appeal the ruling of the Appeal Court, which ordered the immediate release of leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
Ugochinyere said the fact that President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration decided to head to the Supreme Court to appeal the judgement, despite pleas from federal lawmakers, monarchs, clerics from the South-East shows how tribalistic he is and insensitive to plight of the Igbos.
Ugochinyere, who noted that the federal government has no regard for rule of law, pointed out that it’s this same marginalisation and disregard that led to separatist clamour by the Igbos.
“Since coming into power, Buhari has shown discriminatory behaviour and attitudes towards the Igbos and preferential treatment to his Northern people,” he said.
