Multiple persons trapped as four-storey building collapses in Abuja

A four-storey building in the Garki area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, collapsed on Monday night, leaving many people reportedly trapped under the rubble. 

An eyewitness told newsmen that “There is a possibility that there could be some people inside the collapsed building who may have died. I saw two people being pulled out from the rubble and taken to the hospital while rescue operations were ongoing.”

“The emergency responders are not coordinated yet for efficient operations, this lack of coordination is hampering the rescue efforts, potentially putting more lives at risk,” he said.

SaharaReporters had earlier reported how number of workers feared dead as a building at Nicholas Ukachukwu’s Praco Limited Estate located in Guzape, Abuja collapsed on Friday.

A source around the area told SaharaReporters that a rescue operation was going on but had been hindered by heavy rainfall.

The source said, “Building collapse at Nicholas Ukachukwu’s Praco Ltd Estate in Plot 458 Guzape, Abuja. Workers feared dead, Ongoing rainfall hinders rescue.”
