Bandits demand N300m to free Kaduna judge, kill eldest son

Bandits have killed the 14-year-old son of Kaduna State Customary Court Judge, Janet Galadima, after demanding a ransom of N300m to free her and her three other children.

The judge and her four children were kidnapped on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at their residence in Kaduna, while her husband, Dr. Musa Gimba Dutse, was away on duty.

Ransom Demand: The bandits initially demanded N300m, which they later reduced to N298m, but killed the eldest son, Victor, on July 2, 2024, when the ransom was not paid.

Human rights lawyer, Gloria Ballason, and the Nigerian Medical Association are calling on the government, security agencies, and the judiciary to ensure the safe release of the judge and her children, and to bring the perpetrators to justice.
